SimCity 5

Re: SimCity 5
I'm betting the on-line aspect is a control issue (as mentioned above).....mods may be submitted, approved and tweaked OR a revenue stream will be created to "add to your game", kinda like Farmville on Facebook (if I understand it properly)....you get the basic game, acquire credits, purchase upgrades.... Being a database marketing guy, look at all of the demo info they will gather.....and how many players of Farmville on Facebook? Uh, millions.....and that is worth more than selling the disc at retail....this is what we do with my media company....create a niche market user base and market to them based on their interests and buying habits.... For the casual game player, ease of play is key and the "almost cartoon like graphics" are what "they" (typical gamers) are used to....more animated than realistic... Personally, I play CXL for the realism and the higher end graphics....imagine where the game will be in the next two years from where we have been in the last two years...? Knowing how I usually operate (being a creature of habit), I'll keep my existing girlfriend (CXL) until I can find a better replacement....and I'll put up with her negatives because of the pleasure derived on the other side......holy crap, that does sound like my last few girlfriends...! |

Re: SimCity 5
Considering we already have several threads dealing with the new SimCity, and this one is more 'news'-oriented, I'm going to go ahead and merge this thread into the news forum one. |

Re: SimCity 5
Minimum System Requirements are that of 2004 computers specs and theyre still developing this in DX9!?!?! WTMF? Whos gonna pay 60 euro for this game if theyre using a 120 euro computer? I would really like it if the games I like to play were treated like the "Shoot'em up" PC games where you run around shooting everyone in missions that are the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over again with amazing and stunning gory graphics that actually take advantage of the computers power. Anyway heres a SOURCE and a "Sim City World" video within |

Re: SimCity 5
Broken Link. Are you sure that DX9 isn´t only optional for older systems? SHOGUN 2 has this function, too. |

Re: SimCity 5
Im losing interest too. the game is for kids and will always be marketed to kids. the only games for "grown-ups" are shooting games or poker. why cant we just leave kids to play disney games on console and NOT let them ruin our classic computer games? |

Re: SimCity 5
Well I for one think that EA/Maxis still haven't got it right?. There seems to be to much cotton-candy an lollypops for my taste. They should call this game "World of Simcraft" (Remember you heard it here first lol =) Now I think that Simcity 1,2,3,and 4 were and are great games of there time. and it looked as thou EA/Maxis had a grasp on things till Societies came out. you would think form all the negative responses and the lack of sales they would step back and produce a game that gives players more of what they want? more realism . Like Cities XL!.......... Not that there can't be improvements here but I believe that it's a great game and enjoy all the great people here at the XL Nation. I will say this about the new Simcity, and Cities Xl. The concept of player interaction with each-other is a good one but only if given "options" Like if you don't want to play with others then don't! or that you can choose who might be your neighbors ? Or if you want to make it a strategic game play and have world control and wars Kewl!. So it offer some realism in the sense we cant always choose who we are mayor-ed next to or what country were in. but give us thou's options? OH wait those are expansion packs or future games my bad!. So that's just this city builders opinion. |

Re: SimCity 5
They are making this game for new generation of players as target group, clearly. btw, SC5 system requirements are the same with CXL2012, and if SC5 is 2-core game it can do quite a lot compared to cxl which focuses heavily on photo-quality. Maps sizes sounds very disappointing. And the online requirement. However the beta is about to begin. Maxis/EA might ditch many stuff and bring in new stuff during and after the betas. Nothing is set in stone yet. |

Re: SimCity 5
We'll see. As it stands now it will probably bring more infamy to its name than Societies did. And that's saying a lot. |
