Realistic Highway Mod 2.0
The second version of my Realistic Highway mod is finally there. It is based on the original RHM but building behaviour has been improved, graphics have been changed and some content was added.
This Mod is compatible with CitiesXL 2012 and the NEXL mod. Despite that there might be conflicts with other mods. Please report such.
Due to the filesize I had to upload it to an external file upload provider. This time it comes as an self extracting exe file. Make sure you select the "cities xl 2012/paks" folder when unpacking. There will be 2 files added to your paks folder. One is the RHM2 mod the other one is a file I created which reduces snapping. I recommend using it since it makes building a lot easier. It is not essential though and can be removed if it's not wanted.

Important notes:
The User Interface Mod 1.77.5 or higher is absolutely essential! Any older version of it will make the game crash once trying to build anything! The game will crash on start up without it. Get it here: click
RHM networks do not allow city links. You will have to build city links as usual with the normal highway and then connect RHM to it.
When connecting a connector to an already existing road it has to snap. Rotate the piece before snapping if it keeps snapping the wrong way round. Pieces that did not snap exactly will not work.
The menu text does not meet the actual capacities. Despite the description in the menu bridges feature always the exact properties as the ground networks.
Elevated puzzle pieces have a fixed height and can not be raised or lowered.
If an interchange doesn't work you can put a bus line through it to see where exactly the problem is.
For modders: If you create something that replaces something you have to name the file RHM2_z_* to make sure it gets loaded last.
Works with any country specific road set except UK
Installation instructions for those who fail to handle the german installer:
"Preyfr60:
Well, installation is pretty easy:
Download the file
Unpack XL_Nation_Pitty_RHM2.rar with 7zip or winrar
Launch RHM2.exe
Click on "Durchsuchen" and point to "... CitiesXL2012\Paks" (where your \paks folder is)
Click on "Entpacken"
And that's all, you'll find RHM icons in the highway menu."
RHM1 files should be removed but be warned: cities that used to have RHM1 highways will be lost.
Anyone who wants to add something to this mod is welcome. I will link to it here if wished.
Now the rest is up to your phantasy and skill.
Please report any malfunctions to the Realisitc Highway Mod Thread in the forums.
Edit: New fixed version here (removed ped_path conflict and fixed 2 lane Exit)

|
That was completed quickly thanks pitty for your great mod *Like |
|
can you show a tutorial on how to make a highway? EDIT: EDIT2X: |
|
Pitty, you should post an advertisement and a link to this page to Simtropolis CXL custom content section as well as Generation city forum telechargements section. A lot of SC4 fans were very disappointed with Focus highway and certainly your mod makes a difference. I rated your mod 5 stars. Can I ask you, have any other fantastic mods in mind? |

I'm having issues making a 3-lane highway with on/off ramps: ![]() Then I try to add the 3 lane connector (3 pointers straight ahead) but they won't snap. If I try to connect the 4 lane road piece it snapped right away, after clicking on a 4 lane highway section the game crashed. |
|
@ stef42 I honestly don't know why it would crash, I did the exact thing you did and it didn't crash on my computer. What game verison do you use and what kind of mods do you currently have installed? Does it crash when you do it again? |
|
So, you're saying I should replace the piece if used in the above picture for a 3 + 2 piece? I'll make a small YouTube movie to explain my problem and to show the crash which is occurring. EDIT: I got two crashes this morning but none experienced so far, nothing changed really. Here my video (watch in full-screen please): |
